History of the region based on the materials of archeological excavations” is being opened on the lowest floor of the Church of the Presentation of the Virgin in the Temple with the refectory. It is the first full exhibition representing archaeology of the Belozersk district in the Vologda Region. Materials of the monastery archeology are displayed for the first time in our region. More than 4000 archeological objects dating back to different chronological periods are represented there: from the Mesolithic period (9000 B.C.) till the late Middle Ages.

Monk’s cell

At the end of the 20th – early 21st century considerable restoration work has been carried out in the Kirillo-Belozersky museum-reserve. Museumfication of the monuments is being realized at the same time. One of the most interesting architectural buildings of the Kirillo-Belozersky monastery is the Monks’ cells. In the process of its restoration architects and restorers managed to discover complicated structure of this dwelling house of the 17th-19th centuries.

Folk art of the Belozersk district

Exhibitions dedicated to the folk applied art and handicrafts of the Belozersk district are placed in the spacious vaulted chambers of the monastery cook-house of the 16th century. An important place is occupied by wood-carving, ceramics, peasant embroidery, weaving, lace-making and a folk female costume of the 19th-early 20th centuries.

The exhibition «Painting in the open-air - 2008» was opened in the Museum of frescos of Dionysius. There are the works of the Vologda artists at the exhibition: Jury Voronov, Bronislav Kurago, Nikolay Mishust, Oleg Pahomov, Victor Sysoyev.

The competition «Miracles of the Vologda area» started in the Vologda region.

The competition «Miracles of the Vologda area» started in the Vologda region in March, 16^th. Its organizers are the tourists-information centre of the Vologda region and the state broadcasting company "Vologda". Voting is realized through SMS and Internet on the site www.vologdatourinfo.ru. There will be 2 stages in the competition . The first one will last from March, 16th to April, 12th, 2009. Fifteen leaders of the voting will submit their presentations at the inter-regional tourist exhibition «Gate of the North » which will take place on April, 17-19th in the exhibition centre «Russian house». The second stage will be from April, 20th till June, 10th, 2009. Till June, 12th seven winners of the competition will be chosen.

The exhibition "Successors of masters of Pomorye" was opened.

The exhibition was constructed in the Refectory chamber by the masters of "Children's school of folk crafts" of Arkhangelsk (the Director-Burchevsky Vladimir Nikolaevich) with the assistance of employees of the Department of development and exhibition work of the Kirillo-Belozersky memorial estate.

There were the managers of the Kirillov district, the town of Kirillov, the village of Ferapontovo, local masters, administration and employees of the museum, representatives of the press at the opening of the exhibition.

The delegates arrived to the Vologda region within the limits of preparation of the all-Russian program «Have a rest in Russia». The members of the delegation are the heads of the "Media union" and the representatives of federal and regional mass-media.
