The icon-painting school of the Moscow Theological Academy located in the Trinity St. Sergius Lavra is considered to be one most famous educational institutions of Russia in the icon-painting sphere. Alexander, Tatiana and nun Elena are pupils of this school. They have lived in Kirillov for about two weeks. We can see them painting in the halls of the first floor of the Father Superior’s House. The exhibition “Church art of the 15th-17th centuries” is presented there. Alexander has explained to us that they are studying ancient icons, making their copies and painting separate fragments. These are the main goals of the training process in the icon-painting school. They have chosen the Kirillo-Belozersky museum-reserve for their practical work because unique monuments are kept there. The icons of the late 15th century are the classic of the Old Russian painting. According to the pupils, it is a great piece of luck for them to be in the Kirillo-Belozersky museum-reserve. They plan to perfect their skills and to acquire new ones during a month.
