The New Year’s program of the museum was concluded with the event of the Sunday school. Father Superior of the Kirillo-Belozersky monastery Ignaty wished all guests a Merry Christmas at the beginning of it.
Then children appeared on stage – they sang several songs, recited poems about Christmas and danced. Their small theatrical performance titled “A Doll for Christmas Girl” touched all spectators.
Its subject was very nice and simple: a little girl from a poor family sells her only treasure – a beautiful doll Katyusha – to buy warm clothes for her ill mother. She goes to the editorial office of the newspaper to place an advertisement about it. The story certainly has a happy ending: people respond to this advertisement and send Christmas gifts for the girl.
It is one more story which confirms the popular wisdom: the world is small as we are told, but there are people with hearts of gold. It was told and shown by the pupils of the Sunday school.
