History of the region based on the materials of archeological excavations” is being opened on the lowest floor of the Church of the Presentation of the Virgin in the Temple with the refectory. It is the first full exhibition representing archaeology of the Belozersk district in the Vologda Region. Materials of the monastery archeology are displayed for the first time in our region. More than 4000 archeological objects dating back to different chronological periods are represented there: from the Mesolithic period (9000 B.C.) till the late Middle Ages.
At the end of the 20th – early 21st century considerable restoration work has been carried out in the Kirillo-Belozersky museum-reserve. Museumfication of the monuments is being realized at the same time. One of the most interesting architectural buildings of the Kirillo-Belozersky monastery is the Monks’ cells. In the process of its restoration architects and restorers managed to discover complicated structure of this dwelling house of the 17th-19th centuries.
Exhibitions dedicated to the folk applied art and handicrafts of the Belozersk district are placed in the spacious vaulted chambers of the monastery cook-house of the 16th century. An important place is occupied by wood-carving, ceramics, peasant embroidery, weaving, lace-making and a folk female costume of the 19th-early 20th centuries.

The festival was dedicated to the Commemoration Day of the Prophet Elijah which was venerated in Tsypino. Its aim was to resurrect an ancient festival held in Ferapontovo at the beginning of the 20th century. The teachers and students of the Vologda Culture College took part in the preparation of the festival.  

The festival was begun at 12 o’clock near the Church of St. Elijah of the 18th century which was restored under the direction of A. Popov , the restorer of wooden architecture, in 2009.   

The ladies arrayed in old-fashioned dresses of the end of the 19th century and of the beginning of the 20th century announced the festival program. A gunshot fired by S. Tokarev, the master and boatman, marked the opening of the festival. Guests visited the church of St. Elijah and saw the exhibition of model boats made by S. Tokarev. The master opened the exhibition which consists of more than 60 models of boats and ships in miniature and answered the questions of guests.  It will be opened till September 10, 2012. S. Bunin, the scientific employee of the museum of Dyonisy’s frescoes, delivered the lecture about the prophet.

The midpoint of the festival was boat launching on the Iliinskoe lake. The boat was made by S. Tokarev. It was called “Piotr and Phevroniya” and thrown mead. They launched the boat and put up the sails. It was sliding painfully on the lake. Then it moored to the shore. According to the law of the sea the captain S. Tokarev was thrown into water and he drank a mug of strong rum.  Guests took pictures with the captain. Sergey thanked everybody and expressed a wish to make his best wooded boat for the next festival.

The playground was organized for children. Adults took part in folk games with pleaser. 

Workshops on boat making, clay toys, birch bark, smith craft and lace making were very popular. One could shoot at bow and arbalest. Olga and Lyuba Emelichevy sang folk songs and romances. Guests from Moscow, Saint-Petersburg, Archangelsk, Pechora, Cherepovets, Vologda and other cities of Russia wish to come back.
