For the first time the scientific conference “The Kirillovsky readings” was held on April 25, 2003. 15 employees of the Kirillo-Belozersky museum-reserve and of the museum of Dionisy’s frescoes gave reports. The conference was the result of the scientific research of the museum for the preceding years. Starting with “The second Kirillovsky readings” the speakers were not only the employees of the museum, but the investigators and the local historians of the Vologda region among them the representatives of orthodox, educational and government institutions and of civil society organizations. 205 reports were read at the conference over 10 years, 126 of them were prepared by the employees of the museum. The main themes were the history of the Kirillo-Belozersky monastery and of the town Kirillov, the church and popular art of the region of the White lake, the collections of the museum.
Starting with “The third Kirillovsky readings” pupils took part in the conference. They prepared 25 reports.
The practical benefit from the museum conference is obvious. The museum will carry out the Kirillovsky readings and will draw the employees of the museum, local historians, researchers, students and pupils in the conference.
It is important to note that there are specialists who took part in all the conferences over 10 years. A. Smirnova, a head of the sector of written sources, gave reports at 10 conferences. L.
