At the end of the 20th – early 21st century considerable restoration work has been carried out in the Kirillo-Belozersky museum-reserve. Museumfication of the monuments is being realized at the same time. One of the most interesting architectural buildings of the Kirillo-Belozersky monastery is the Monks’ cells. In the process of its restoration architects and restorers managed to discover complicated structure of this dwelling house of the 17th-19th centuries.
Exhibitions dedicated to the folk applied art and handicrafts of the Belozersk district are placed in the spacious vaulted chambers of the monastery cook-house of the 16th century. An important place is occupied by wood-carving, ceramics, peasant embroidery, weaving, lace-making and a folk female costume of the 19th-early 20th centuries.

Fine arts studio “Tchereda” for children was opened at the museum of Dionisy’s frescoes in March. It is the project of the science and exposition department of the museum. Themes of studies are connected with the specificity of the museum and the general history of art.

 The main aim of the museum studio is to interest children in the history and culture. The museum is not only a depository, but it is an effective base of intercourse and the cultural and educational environment that helps to get to know the world. An exhibit as a source of information influences emotionally and creates a feeling of participation.

The principal objects of the fine arts studio are

-          to form a new museum audience;

-          to acquaint children with the museum;

-          to develop the skills of drawing.

The principles of carrying out studies are interactivity and complexity. Tasks are based on the principle “from easy to complicated” in according with the age peculiarities of children. The course of the museum educational program must last several years.

The program of the first year is worked out for children at the age of 6-8. 14 children from Ferapontovo are occupied with drawing at the museum studio two days in week. The museum provides them with necessary art materials.

The results of the work of the studio will be drawn up at the end of 2012 and will show the possibility (impossibility) of carrying out this project in the village.
