They discussed the results of the work of the experts of UNESCO in the settlement Ferapontovo in the Kirillov district.
In Russia there are 24 World Heritage sites, 15 of them were created by people, and 9 of them have natural origin. There are three cross-border sites in Russia; partially they are situated on the territory of some states.
One of the most valuable sites of the UNESCO World Heritage, the Ensemble of the Ferapontov monastery, is located in the Vologda region. It was being formed from the XV th till the XIX th centuries. It is famous for its frescoes in the Cathedral of the Nativity of the Virgin. It is a unique completely preserved painting of Dionysius. He was the eminent representative of the Moscow icon-painting school of the XV th - XVI th centuries.
In 2000 the Ensemble of the Ferapontov monastery was included into the World Heritage List by UNESCO.
The museum of the frescoes located in the Ferapontov monastery is the branch of the Kirillo-Belozersky historic-architectural and art museum- reserve.

- Archbishop of the Voloda diocese – Maksimilian;
- Director of the Kirillo-Belozersky historic-architectural and art museum- reserve – M. Sharomazov
- Director of the museum of the frescoes of Dionysius – M. Serebryakova;
- Federal Architect S. Kulikov and others.
Anna Sidorenko-Dulom thanked the Government of the Vologda region for good organization of the control mission in Ferapontovo and informed that the detailed account of the results of that work would be given.
T. Krestev visited the Ferapontov monastery for the first time in 2000. The aim of his visit was the preparation of the appraisal on including the monastery into the UNESKO List. After 10 years he expressed satisfaction with progress toward the preservation of the unique monument.
The members of the mission made a point of a high level of restoration works.
Regarding the results of the conference they took a decision to form the Coordination Council on Preservation of the Ensemble of the Ferapontov monastery as the World Heritage Site. The special Commission will control parameters of the construction of a new wood hotel in the settlement Ferapontovo and of building on the territory of the buffer zone of the Ferapontov monastery according to the Project of Protective Zones of the Historic Settlement. The representatives of the Department of Culture and Preservation of Cultural Heritage Sites of the Vologda region and of Head of the Main Department for Architecture and Urban Development of the Vologda will be the members of the Commission.
