The events destined for general audience took place in the Kirillo-Belozersky Museum-Reserve. The honey fair was opened with a ceremony of consecration of gifts in the New Town on Friday, August 14. Customers could buy bee-keeping produce in multi-coloured stalls located along the monastery wall.
The documentary “For the Sake of Honour, For the Sake of Glory” about the natives of the Vologda region – participants of the Great Patriotic War and heirs of the victory was presented in the conference hall several hours later. This event opened the program of the Art Festival “The Property of Republic”. Before the screening, producer Marina Barysheva told spectators about the cycle “Vologda’s Character”. The presented film was a part of it.
The book of film director Yuri Polovnikov titled “Let Me Hug the Time” was presented in the conference hall of the museum in the evening. He was born in Sokol of the Vologda region. The book was published in 2014 on the occasion of the author’s anniversary – he would be 60 that year. This work contains very interesting material – diary notes, essays and short stories of Yuri Polovnikov. Tatiana Kanunova, film expert from Vologda, told the museum guests about his life and career. The audience could also see photos and fragments of some films of Yuri Polovnikov during the event.
The honey fair was also open on Saturday, August 15. Not only bee-keeping produce, but also earthenware and various souvenirs were sold there. The concert program “The Soul of Belozersk Region” began on the stage of the New Town at noon. Creative groups and solo singers from Cherepovets, Kirillov and Belozersk participated in it. In spite of bad weather that caused a lot of inconveniences, spectators liked the event.
At the end of the Art Festival “The Property of Republic”, residents and guests of Kirillov met with People’s Artist of Russia Boris Plotnikov. The famous actor presented the program “Hello, Russia, My Motherland” about the creative work of Nikolay Rubtsov. Boris Plotnikov was reading the verses of the outstanding poet of Vologda during an hour and a half. Besides, he sang some songs to the accompaniment of guitarist Vladimir Markushevich (he played the seven-string guitar). The audience was charmed with everything that was taking place on the stage: they welcomed each poem and melody, greeted the creative duet with cheers and asked them to perform an encore.
