A commemoration meeting of Yuri Koval, artist, sculptor, screenplay writer and famous children’s writer of the Soviet Union and Russia, will take place in the Kirillo-Belozersky Museum-Reserve on August 6. Almost everybody knows his creative work: if not pictures or books, than animated cartoons for sure.
Yuri Koval was no stranger to Kirillov and its outskirts. The collection of his stories “Chisty Dor” about the village with the same name located in the Kirillov district was published in 1970. The village of Odenyevo on the Tsypina Hill was probably his most favourable place. It became a home away from home for a lot of creative personalities.
Yuri Koval would be 75 this year. He died 20 years ago. The event in memory of this amazingly talented person will begin with an opening ceremony of the display “Drawings of Yuri Koval” in the conference hall of the museum at 15:00. Relatives and friends of Yuri Koval will take part in it. We invite everybody to attend the event! Admission is free. 10+.
