The “Ilyinsky Festival” will take place in the museum complex “Tsypino” (in the outskirts of Ferapontovo) on August 1. More and more people who want to get to the atmosphere of the 19th-20th centuries and to see how creative youth of this area had a rest at that time participate in the event every year.
The holiday will begin at noon and will last for about three hours. Everybody who wants can join in it, admission is free. The organizers have a lot of surprises in store.
The program of the festival includes:
- the open air exhibition “Native Antiquities” where you will be able not only to learn about the history of some unique household articles of the residents of Tsypino, but also to touch them;
- the display of ancient photos from the Brilliantovs family archive presenting how the residents of Tsypino and Ferapontovo worked and had a rest;
- “Ilyinsky Plein Air” where everybody will be able to showcase artistic skills and to display the works in the open air;
- the photo salon “At the Brilliantovs”;
- children’s amusements;
- tours of the museum complex and visits to the wooden Church of St. Prophet Elijah (built in 1755).
- performances of folk groups from Kirillov and Cherepovets;
- the music and poetry salon “Harmony” where you will listen to famous songs and romances of the beginning and middle of the 20th century. Guests will have a unique chance to listen and even to recite their favourite poems;
- a craft quarter where master-classes in pottery, birth bark weaving, lace-making, smithcraft, and boat-making are to be delivered;
- launching of a boat on Ilyinsky Lake. Boatman S.A. Tokare who has become the winner of the International Festival of Folk Art and Crafts “Voice of Crafts” in 2015 will showcase his skills to the guests;
- elements of ancient hunting with hounds;
- a tea party;
- an auction.
Contests
Prepare for the holiday taking part in two contests! Their winners will be awarded prizes: a brazier, a smoking grill, and other useful household articles.
1. Contest “Home-made Sweets”.
To showcase cooking skills and to get a prize for it – isn’t it a dream of any housewife? Various home-baked products – from pies with sweet fillings to fruit-cakes – are accepted for the contest.
2. Contest “Bath Broom”.
You can make this essential element of any Russian steam bath or sauna using any materials. The main things are your fantasy and a creative approach!

How can you get to Tsypino?
The museum complex “Tsypino” is located 1,5 kilometers far from the village of Ferapontovo. Tourists travelling by car can easily get there following the road signs.
Please, note that a special bus service will be organized on August 1. The bus will go from the building of the Kirillov District Administration to Tsypino at 11:30 a.m. and will go back from Tsypino to Kirillov at 3 p.m. The return ticket costs 150 rubles. The number of seats is limited.
