History of the region based on the materials of archeological excavations” is being opened on the lowest floor of the Church of the Presentation of the Virgin in the Temple with the refectory. It is the first full exhibition representing archaeology of the Belozersk district in the Vologda Region. Materials of the monastery archeology are displayed for the first time in our region. More than 4000 archeological objects dating back to different chronological periods are represented there: from the Mesolithic period (9000 B.C.) till the late Middle Ages.
At the end of the 20th – early 21st century considerable restoration work has been carried out in the Kirillo-Belozersky museum-reserve. Museumfication of the monuments is being realized at the same time. One of the most interesting architectural buildings of the Kirillo-Belozersky monastery is the Monks’ cells. In the process of its restoration architects and restorers managed to discover complicated structure of this dwelling house of the 17th-19th centuries.
Exhibitions dedicated to the folk applied art and handicrafts of the Belozersk district are placed in the spacious vaulted chambers of the monastery cook-house of the 16th century. An important place is occupied by wood-carving, ceramics, peasant embroidery, weaving, lace-making and a folk female costume of the 19th-early 20th centuries.

The action “Night at the Museum” was held all over the country at the weekend. It also has a second name - the Night of Museums – that is certainly associated with the famous comedy. Every year it becomes more and more popular. The holiday the action is timed to - the International Museum Day – is celebrated on May 18. The second “Night at the Museum” was organized in Kirillov on this very day. It marked the 70th anniversary of the victory in the Great Patriotic War along with the Saturday events. It is interesting that museums of the capital also held the action again.



The Sonnet Theatre from Vologda presented the performance “It’s War, Girls” in Kirillov. It attracted a capacity crowd. Veterans of the war were also among the spectators. First they could see a new exhibit from the museum collection - the lace panel “Victory”. This unique work was created by Russia’s Honoured Artist G.N. Mamrovskaya.



The performance based on Taras Drozd’s play was about four girls who were encoders at the special services node. The wartime left an imprint on the thoughts and deeds of all of them. Everything on which they set a low value in usual life suddenly became extremely important. The war is the time when every rash word could cost a man his life. The girls understood this truth only at the end of the play.



The young actresses received a warm welcome of the audience. They gave them a standing ovation and presented flowers. Actors of the Sonnet Theatre under the direction of L.V. Alyoshina appeared on the museum scene not for the first time and all their performances attracted a capacity crowd.
