The action “Night at the Museum” was held all over Russia yesterday. Dozens of thousands of people attended the events that lasted till late at night (and in some regions till morning).
The action in the Kirillo-Belozersky Museum-Reserve began with the opening ceremony of the display of children’s drawings “Great Patriotic War in History of My Family” in the parvis of the Refectory. It presents the works created for the contest that was held by the museum on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the victory in the Great Patriotic War.
About 100 people attended the ceremony that started with the video presentation about the war and then children recited poems. Museum employees awarded the authors of not only the best drawings, but also the best essays and video reels on the same subject - “Great Patriotic War in History of My Family”.
After the award ceremony, all guests had a chance to see the works. The depictions were different, but they were all about the war. They reflected all sides of life at that time: the front and the rear, the beginning of war and the victory. Visitors of the museum will be able to see the children’s drawings till late June.
All exhibitions of the museum were open till late at night during the action. Most of the guests came to the Refectory because they could get to the viewing platform of the Bell-tower from there. Besides, the galleries of the walls were also open for visitors.
Master-classes were delivered in the Cook-house. Both children and adults participated in them. They were pleased to make flowers of salty dough and corrugated paper and gave a free range to their fancy in the quilling technique. They also wrote calligraphy letters with pen and ink in the House of the Father Superior, in the midst of manuscripts and early printed books.
In spite of cool weather, the visitors walked in the museum and took pictures. The next event marking the International Museum Day is scheduled for tomorrow, May 18. The program “Echoes of War” will begin in the conference hall at 20:00.
