Visitors of the Kirillo-Belozersky Museum-Reserve could listen to the voices of those people thanks to whom the Great Patriotic War had ended in complete defeat for the Nazi Germany 70 years ago. People came to the conference hall of the museum during the whole day.
They learnt about the contribution of the residents (natives) of Kirillov and the Kirillov district from different points of view. Participants of combat actions spoke about their front-line everyday life. Homefront workers remembered those days that were full of hard work and expectation of news from their relatives and children born in the wartime – about very difficult first years of their lives. People could listen to the audio recordings and see the video of the museum archive on that day.
For example, visitors could listen to the recollections of Lidia Alexandrovna Mukhina, daughter of Hero of the Soviet Union Alexander Makarovich Lelekov. At present she lives in Murom of the Vladimir region. Lidia Mukhina visited Kirillov together with her relatives and came to the museum on the eve of Victory Day. Her father Alexander Lelekov participated in the Winter War of 1939-1940. At the beginning of the Great Patriotic War, he was given a one-year draft deferment as a multi-skilled machine-operator; therefore he was mobilized in summer 1942. Alexander Lelekov was given a lot of awards. In 1944, he was given the title of the Hero of the Soviet Union. One of the streets in Kirillov is named after the brave fellow-townsman.
The materials presented on a large screen on Victory Day can be found in a special section of the museum website: http://www.kirmuseum.ru/pobeditely. It includes recollections of 65 natives and residents of the Kirillov district: 37 participants of the war and 28 homefront workers and children born in the wartime. A separate page tells about every person. It contains biographical background, audio recordings and photos of different years.
