Quilling or paper filigree originated in Mediterranean Europe at the turn of the 14th-15 centuries. Monks are considered to be its creators. Quilling came into fashion in Europe several times during its history. In the 19th century, it was almost the only art that great ladies practiced. Paper filigree has become popular in Russia recently, but many people already like it.
