The Orthodox believers continue celebrating Easter: the Bright Week – the most solemn period of the year – has begun. Services during this week are conducted according to a special rite and religious processions (Bright Week processions) are held after each liturgy.
Easter celebrations take place in all monasteries and parishes of the Vologda eparchy. Metropolitan of Vologda and Kirillov Ignaty offered the liturgy in the Church of St. Kirill Belozersky yesterday, on April 14. He arrived in Kirillov with the Holy Fire that had been brought from the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem. The clergy of the Kirillov rural dean’s district, Father Superiors of the monasteries and parishioners came to wish the bishop a Happy Easter.
At the end of the liturgy, Metropolitan Ignaty headed the religious procession around the Assumption Cathedral with the side-churches and then congratulated everybody on Easter and preached a sermon.
