History of the region based on the materials of archeological excavations” is being opened on the lowest floor of the Church of the Presentation of the Virgin in the Temple with the refectory. It is the first full exhibition representing archaeology of the Belozersk district in the Vologda Region. Materials of the monastery archeology are displayed for the first time in our region. More than 4000 archeological objects dating back to different chronological periods are represented there: from the Mesolithic period (9000 B.C.) till the late Middle Ages.
At the end of the 20th – early 21st century considerable restoration work has been carried out in the Kirillo-Belozersky museum-reserve. Museumfication of the monuments is being realized at the same time. One of the most interesting architectural buildings of the Kirillo-Belozersky monastery is the Monks’ cells. In the process of its restoration architects and restorers managed to discover complicated structure of this dwelling house of the 17th-19th centuries.
Exhibitions dedicated to the folk applied art and handicrafts of the Belozersk district are placed in the spacious vaulted chambers of the monastery cook-house of the 16th century. An important place is occupied by wood-carving, ceramics, peasant embroidery, weaving, lace-making and a folk female costume of the 19th-early 20th centuries.

Participants of the seminar that was held in the State Historical Museum (Moscow) last week spoke about their experience of promotion of the museums in the Internet. Websites and pages in the social networking sites were in the spotlight.


The seminar took place in the building of the Museum of the Patriotic War of 1812. About one hundred people participated in the event, including employees of the museums from Moscow and St. Petersburg. The Vologda region was represented by the Kirillo-Belozersky Museum-Reserve.

The participants gave reports on various subjects, for example: the results of work in 2014, researches of the museum audience and Internet projects. Irina Suvorovskaya, public relations specialist of the Kirillo-Belozersky Museum-Reserve, told about the information grounds of the museum. Yevgenia Ivanova from Belarus presented a report about virtual projects of the museums in the republic.


The participants of the seminar became interested in the project “Single Information Space in the Cultural Sphere” introduced by representatives of the Ministry of Culture of the RF. Fyodor Zhernovoy told about the potential of the automated system started up in the pilot mode. It is a site destined for specialists of the cultural sphere who work with information and its distribution in the Internet.

Initially this system was used in the Moscow, the Kaluga and the Belgorod regions. The Kirillo-Belozersky Museum-Reserve was also registered on the website and the Vologda region was included into the list in this connection.
