The opening ceremony of Olga Karpachyova’s art exhibition titled “Around the World with Sketch-Book” took place in the Kirillo-Belozersky Museum-Reserve on Friday, March 20. 62 works painted in the open air in different years are presented in three halls.
Olga Karpachyova is known as an artist not only in the Vologda region, but in many other regions of our country. The main source of her inspiration is open air painting. Olga travels a lot in Russia and abroad and she always takes a sketch-box to depict what she sees. She doesn’t forget about her small Motherland. The artist’s creative work is rich in the landscapes of the Vologda region – urban and rural. Her pictures are kept in the collections of the museums in Russia, Europe, Asia and the USA.
Olga Karpachyova has been taking part in international, All-Russian and regional exhibitions since 1999. She has already participated in over 70 displays, 10 of them were one-man exhibitions. The eleventh was opened in Kirillov. Olga takes up painting during her spare time: she has been working as an artist-restorer in the Vologda State Museum-Preserve for many years.
Painters from Vologda, Cherepovets, Kirillov and Lipin Bor attended the opening ceremony of the exhibition “Around the World with Sketch-Book”. Olga Karpachyova thanked them and shared her impressions: “It is very pleasant for me that my exhibition has been opened exactly in Kirillov. I lived here when I was a student. I took part in the conservation of the wall-painting in the Assumption Cathedral. I don’t know what you feel looking at my pictures. I can frankly say that when I am painting them I have mixed feelings. But at that moment when the exhibition is opened, I have only positive emotions”.
The display “Around the World with Sketch-Book” will be open in the conference hall of the Kirillo-Belozersky Museum-Reserve till late April.
