History of the region based on the materials of archeological excavations” is being opened on the lowest floor of the Church of the Presentation of the Virgin in the Temple with the refectory. It is the first full exhibition representing archaeology of the Belozersk district in the Vologda Region. Materials of the monastery archeology are displayed for the first time in our region. More than 4000 archeological objects dating back to different chronological periods are represented there: from the Mesolithic period (9000 B.C.) till the late Middle Ages.
At the end of the 20th – early 21st century considerable restoration work has been carried out in the Kirillo-Belozersky museum-reserve. Museumfication of the monuments is being realized at the same time. One of the most interesting architectural buildings of the Kirillo-Belozersky monastery is the Monks’ cells. In the process of its restoration architects and restorers managed to discover complicated structure of this dwelling house of the 17th-19th centuries.
Exhibitions dedicated to the folk applied art and handicrafts of the Belozersk district are placed in the spacious vaulted chambers of the monastery cook-house of the 16th century. An important place is occupied by wood-carving, ceramics, peasant embroidery, weaving, lace-making and a folk female costume of the 19th-early 20th centuries.

Young inhabitants of the Vologda region have a wonderful opportunity to attend different master-classes and even to see small exhibitions of the Kirillo-Belozersky Museum-Reserve without leaving their village, town or city. Museum employees go to schools and kindergartens located in different districts of the Vologda region several times a year. Implementation of the program “Museum – to the Vologda Region” is going on in 2015.

This week the employees of three museum departments have visited the School ¹ 18 in Cherepovets. They have presented the exhibition “Military Valour of Centuries” and have conducted a number of interesting lessons for schoolchildren. Elementary schools pupils have learnt a lot of about Russian folk games thanks to the playing program “Magic Box”. Boys and girls of the middle classes have joined in the master-classes “Belt on Camomile” and “Easter Gift” (in the iris-folding technique). Besides, some lectures have been read for the young residents of Cherepovets. They were about the Great Patriotic War and the archeological excavations in the Belozersk region.

One more lesson was about the multimedia project of the museum – the virtual tour of the Kirillo-Belozersky Monastery. The pupils have carefully listened to the description and then have been pleased to make a virtual tour of the monastery themselves.

This tour was placed on the website kirmuseum.ru in late 2012. First it included only the summer version and the audio text in Russian. The winter variant of the tour was added in early 2013. Later the renewed version in both Russian and English became available for Internet users. In 2014, the virtual tour participated in the First Internet Festival of Museum Multimedia “Museum Geek” as a contest work and the Kirillo-Belozersky Museum-Reserve was given a special prize for it.
