History of the region based on the materials of archeological excavations” is being opened on the lowest floor of the Church of the Presentation of the Virgin in the Temple with the refectory. It is the first full exhibition representing archaeology of the Belozersk district in the Vologda Region. Materials of the monastery archeology are displayed for the first time in our region. More than 4000 archeological objects dating back to different chronological periods are represented there: from the Mesolithic period (9000 B.C.) till the late Middle Ages.
At the end of the 20th – early 21st century considerable restoration work has been carried out in the Kirillo-Belozersky museum-reserve. Museumfication of the monuments is being realized at the same time. One of the most interesting architectural buildings of the Kirillo-Belozersky monastery is the Monks’ cells. In the process of its restoration architects and restorers managed to discover complicated structure of this dwelling house of the 17th-19th centuries.
Exhibitions dedicated to the folk applied art and handicrafts of the Belozersk district are placed in the spacious vaulted chambers of the monastery cook-house of the 16th century. An important place is occupied by wood-carving, ceramics, peasant embroidery, weaving, lace-making and a folk female costume of the 19th-early 20th centuries.

There are several months left till the First Russian and Chinese Festival of Russian Song in Kirillov. Preparation for it is in full swing. The detailed program of the event that will take place in the Kirillo-Belozersky Museum-Reserve from June 11 to 14, 2015, is being formed now.

It is planned to hold concerts of groups and solo singers, “evenings of friendship” and creative events, temporary exhibitions about national cultures of Russia and China. The festival will culminate in the gala concert that will be organized on the main stage of the museum on the Day of Russia celebrated on June 12.

The festival will be held on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the victory over fascism and in acknowledgment to the generation of winners in the Second World War. Its motto is “To sing Russian songs is in fashion!” The list of participants includes the choir “International” from Guangzhou, the choir of the Children’s Art School in Kirillov, the Cossack Ensemble “Silver Horseshoe”, the retro ensemble “Northern Frescoes”, the Folk Song Ensemble “Light Chamber”, the amateur group of teachers-veterans “How Young We Were”, the veterans’ ensemble “Golden Age”, Elena Antonova, Elena Vyazigina, Artyom Polkovnikov and others. They will perform with civil, folk and patriotic compositions and songs of the Great Patriotic War.

The music directors of the festival are:

in Kirillov - Svetlana Zavarina, Honoured Art Worker of the RF, teacher of the Vologda Regional Training School of Culture, and Olga Chechanicheva, teacher of the Children’s Art School;

in Guangzhou - Shchi Vypin, musician, artistic director and chief conductor of the choir “International”.
