History of the region based on the materials of archeological excavations” is being opened on the lowest floor of the Church of the Presentation of the Virgin in the Temple with the refectory. It is the first full exhibition representing archaeology of the Belozersk district in the Vologda Region. Materials of the monastery archeology are displayed for the first time in our region. More than 4000 archeological objects dating back to different chronological periods are represented there: from the Mesolithic period (9000 B.C.) till the late Middle Ages.
At the end of the 20th – early 21st century considerable restoration work has been carried out in the Kirillo-Belozersky museum-reserve. Museumfication of the monuments is being realized at the same time. One of the most interesting architectural buildings of the Kirillo-Belozersky monastery is the Monks’ cells. In the process of its restoration architects and restorers managed to discover complicated structure of this dwelling house of the 17th-19th centuries.
Exhibitions dedicated to the folk applied art and handicrafts of the Belozersk district are placed in the spacious vaulted chambers of the monastery cook-house of the 16th century. An important place is occupied by wood-carving, ceramics, peasant embroidery, weaving, lace-making and a folk female costume of the 19th-early 20th centuries.

The Kirillo-Belozersky Museum-Reserve is announcing three contests on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the victory in the Great Patriotic War. This great event has already become a part of history, but the current generation still remembers and reveres the ancestors’ feat. The subject of all three contests is the same – “Great Patriotic War in History of My Family”.

1. Contest of drawings

It is held from February 2 to April 15, 2015. You can send your application by post to the Department of Visitor Relations (Kirillo-Belozersky Museum-Reserve, Kirillov, 161100) or by e-mail: order.kirmuseum@mail.ru.

Pupils of general and additional education institutions living in the Vologda region can participate in the contest. It includes three age groups: schoolchildren aged 7 to 10, aged 11 to 14 and aged 15 to 18.

Your drawings are to be painted individually in various techniques and genres. Their format is to be either A4 or A3. You can use any material to create them (paints, ink, pencils, paper, cardboard, and so on).

You are to attach a separate sheet of paper with the following information to your picture: its title, the name of the author, his or her age, the name of the educational institution, the name of its head, a contact telephone number.

When judging the contest works, they will take into account: reflection of the subject, general artistic expression, independence and originality of the idea, fulfillment of the artistic task (transfer of proportions, colour and space), and art technique. The contest includes the following nominations: “Most vivid drawing”, “Best technical execution” and “Originality of the idea”.

Results will be summed up on April 28, 2015. We will inform you about the exact time and venue for an award ceremony later. Winners and their teachers will be given diplomas, letters of gratitude and prizes. It is also planned to stage an exhibition of works participating in the contest.

2. Contest of video films

Applications are accepted from February 2 to April 30, 2015, contest works – from May 1 to 15, 2015, by post (the Department of Visitor Relations in the Kirillo-Belozersky Museum-Reserve, Kirillov, 161100) or by e-mail: order.kirmuseum@mail.ru.

Everybody irrespective of age, gender, occupation and hobby can join in the contest. It can be both an individual and a team work. Every contestant can send only one video.

You can use any available means to make your video (multimedia presentations, electronic photo albums, video films). It is to last for 7 minutes. You can use special programs and tools when shooting and cutting your film. It is to be in electronic format.

When judging the contest works, they will take into account: correspondence with the given subject, argumentativeness and depth of the subject, clarity of the idea, creativity of the video (novelty of the idea, originality, and intellectual flexibility), informational content and aesthetic qualities of the work. Technical evaluation will consist of quality of video shooting and material procession.

We will inform you about the exact time and venue for summing up later. Best works will be placed in the electronic recourses of the museum.

3. Contest of essays

It is held from February 2 to April 30, 2015. You can send your application by post to the Department of Visitor Relations (Kirillo-Belozersky Museum-Reserve, Kirillov, 161100) or by e-mail: order.kirmuseum@mail.ru till April 30.

Pupils of general education institutions in the Vologda region can participate in the contest.

Essays are to be printed in Russian. The volume of the work is to be not more than 2 sheets of paper of A4 format. The line spacing is 1 cm.

You are to write the following information on the title page:

- title of the essay;

- name, patronymic name and surname of the author;

- name of the educational institution;

- home address with the postal code and telephone number;

- name, patronymic name and surname of the research advisor;

The works are to meet the following criteria:

- correspondence of the content and subject of the essay;

- correctness of the facts;

- consistency of the statement;

- competence;

- sincerity, non-standard approach to the subject development.

This contest includes several nominations: “Best development of the contest subject”, “Sincerity of the statement”, and “Most grammatical essay”. References to the sources of information are obligatory.

Prize-winners of the contest and their research advisors will be given diplomas, letters of gratitude and souvenirs. We will inform you about the exact time and venue for an award ceremony later.
