Preparation for the forthcoming festival “Winter Fortress” is in full swing in the Kirillo-Belozersky Museum-Reserve. Workers are shoveling away snow using tractors on the area of the New Town where the event would take place on February 21. There will be three grounds instead of snow-drifts: “Snowy Town”, “Merry Outdoor festivities and knockabout comedies” and “Heroic Might”.
The festival titled “Winter Fortress” will be first held in the museum. It will begin the program of another event – “In Snow of Kirillov” that is widely-known far outside Kirillov and even the Vologda region.
The program of the festival will include: an exhibition of snow figures “Cannons That Don’t Shoot”, a charitable lottery “Heart Memory” (marking the 70th anniversary of the victory in the Great Patriotic War), performances of folk ensembles from Cherepovets and Kirillov and students of the Vologda Regional Training School of Culture. The fist-fighting group “Busa” and local sportsmen, including kettlebell lifter, winner of the European Cup Anatoly Babkin, will join in the festival.
Visitors will be able to taste hot pancakes with monastery tea, to go on amusement rides, to participate in Russian folk games, master-classes, and to make tours of the museum.
