“The museum should educate” – statesmen, cultural figures and people of art use this phrase more and more often. Museums employees also mention it. For example, M.B. Piotrovsky, director of the State Hermitage Museum, said in one of his interviews, “The museum should carry on a dialogue with people, help them to think because only culture can bring up a sophisticated person”.
As everybody knows, you should cultivate culture since childhood. The program “See the Museum!” has been elaborated in the Kirillo-Belozersky Museum-Reserve for its smallest visitors. Almost 140 lessons – master-classes, tours and playing events - were conducted for children of the kindergartens in Kirillov last year within the framework of this program.
It is also planned to organize a lot of interesting events for preschool children in 2015. Cooperation with the kindergartens was resumed after the New Year holidays. At present M.K. Ivanova, employee of the Museum of Town and District History, conducts a lesson about Christmas-tide. First the mummer tells children about festive days, their origin and meaning. Then characters of the puppet theatre (the Grandmother and the Grandfather) appear on the scene and tell kids how people used to celebrate this holiday before. The Fox and the Bear visit them and sing Christmas carols. Boys and girls play different games during the event. Besides, they join in a master-class and make a horse - an amulet for good luck – using cord.
