Presentation of the book about Boris Timofeevich Sizov, specialist of temperature and humidity conditions, person whose life and work was closely connected with Kirillov and Ferapontovo, was held in the All-Union Research Institute for Restoration in Moscow on December 16, 2014. The Kirillo-Belozersky Museum-Reserve supported publication of this edition paying tribute to B.T. Sizov for his large contribution to the preservation of museum monuments of architecture and monumental painting, including the Nativity of the Virgin Cathedral with the wonderful frescoes of Dionisy.
The thesis and scientific studies of B.T. Sizov are a real gift of the specialist to custodians. It is a clear manual following the recommendations of which you can preserve the architectural monument and improve its critical conditions. He suggests applying an available and practical method of airing, regulating temperature in the rooms of the monument and adjacent buildings, carrying out little basic repair of window openings, doorways and roofs, draining water away from the foundation and walls. Besides, the books contains exact formulas according to which more or less educated man can easily understand and reckon the actions for preservation of the monument taking into account its present use and attendance.
