The members of the “Rusichi” ensemble came to the Kirillo-Belozersky Museum-Reserve. They saw the exhibitions in the House of the Father Superior, admired the display of lace in the refectory and went to the functional Church of St. Kiril.
“Rusichi” is probably the unique group in the country at the concerts of which people can listen to the traditional Russian music performed using reconstructed musical instruments of the 11th – 15th centuries. The ensemble is notable for several things: it consists only of men who are dressed in original costumes based on military, peasant and shepherd’s clothing, they show ritual dances and fights, use unique musical instruments that they have made themselves and can easily improvise traditional Russian vocal and instrumental music.
This group participated in many television and radio programs, acted in featured films and documentaries. They successfully performed on the leading concert grounds of our country and 18 foreign countries.
Lyrics and melodies were found during folklore expeditions and were taken from various books containing Russian folk songs. The members of the ensemble reconstructed the unique folk instruments themselves.
Thanks to the efforts of “Rusichi”, many almost forgotten ancient Russian instruments have been reconstructed. Besides, this ensemble works as a research and ethnographic group collecting and preserving samples of ancient singing culture.
