History of the region based on the materials of archeological excavations” is being opened on the lowest floor of the Church of the Presentation of the Virgin in the Temple with the refectory. It is the first full exhibition representing archaeology of the Belozersk district in the Vologda Region. Materials of the monastery archeology are displayed for the first time in our region. More than 4000 archeological objects dating back to different chronological periods are represented there: from the Mesolithic period (9000 B.C.) till the late Middle Ages.
At the end of the 20th – early 21st century considerable restoration work has been carried out in the Kirillo-Belozersky museum-reserve. Museumfication of the monuments is being realized at the same time. One of the most interesting architectural buildings of the Kirillo-Belozersky monastery is the Monks’ cells. In the process of its restoration architects and restorers managed to discover complicated structure of this dwelling house of the 17th-19th centuries.
Exhibitions dedicated to the folk applied art and handicrafts of the Belozersk district are placed in the spacious vaulted chambers of the monastery cook-house of the 16th century. An important place is occupied by wood-carving, ceramics, peasant embroidery, weaving, lace-making and a folk female costume of the 19th-early 20th centuries.

The First Internet Festival of Museum Multimedia “Museum Geek” was held for the first time on the website of the State Museum of History of Religion in spring 2014. Museums of Russia and the near abroad countries took part in it. They presented various projects such as virtual tours, guidebooks, interactive programs, electronic catalogues, information systems, applications for mobile devices and even an animated series.

The Kirillo-Belozersky Museum-Reserve sent the renewed version of the virtual tour of the Kirillo-Belozersky Monastery to this contest. It can be seen on the website kirmuseum.ru in the section “To Visitor”. It is worth reminding that according to the contest results, our museum was given a special prize instituted by the State Museum of History of Religion.

Another Internet event was held by the research organization “Sreda (Environment)”. It was a photo project “Local Sacred Places”. Residents of different Russian regions participated in it. Everybody could send photos with the depiction of various sacred places. A special jury consisting of photographers and journalists estimated the contestants’ works.

Pyotr Zakharov with his picture “The Sky and Water of the Kirillo-Belozersky Monastery” was named the winner of the contest. This project will result in a photo display presenting all works. It is due to be opened in the Moscow House of Nationalities. Besides, they have already made a special online map with all pictures sent by the participants of the contest “Local Sacred Places”.
