The First Internet Festival of Museum Multimedia “Museum Geek” was held for the first time on the website of the State Museum of History of Religion in spring 2014. Museums of Russia and the near abroad countries took part in it. They presented various projects such as virtual tours, guidebooks, interactive programs, electronic catalogues, information systems, applications for mobile devices and even an animated series.
The Kirillo-Belozersky Museum-Reserve sent the renewed version of the virtual tour of the Kirillo-Belozersky Monastery to this contest. It can be seen on the website kirmuseum.ru in the section “To Visitor”. It is worth reminding that according to the contest results, our museum was given a special prize instituted by the State Museum of History of Religion.
Another Internet event was held by the research organization “Sreda (Environment)”. It was a photo project “Local Sacred Places”. Residents of different Russian regions participated in it. Everybody could send photos with the depiction of various sacred places. A special jury consisting of photographers and journalists estimated the contestants’ works.
Pyotr Zakharov with his picture “The Sky and Water of the Kirillo-Belozersky Monastery” was named the winner of the contest. This project will result in a photo display presenting all works. It is due to be opened in the Moscow House of Nationalities. Besides, they have already made a special online map with all pictures sent by the participants of the contest “Local Sacred Places”.
