History of the region based on the materials of archeological excavations” is being opened on the lowest floor of the Church of the Presentation of the Virgin in the Temple with the refectory. It is the first full exhibition representing archaeology of the Belozersk district in the Vologda Region. Materials of the monastery archeology are displayed for the first time in our region. More than 4000 archeological objects dating back to different chronological periods are represented there: from the Mesolithic period (9000 B.C.) till the late Middle Ages.

Monk’s cell

At the end of the 20th – early 21st century considerable restoration work has been carried out in the Kirillo-Belozersky museum-reserve. Museumfication of the monuments is being realized at the same time. One of the most interesting architectural buildings of the Kirillo-Belozersky monastery is the Monks’ cells. In the process of its restoration architects and restorers managed to discover complicated structure of this dwelling house of the 17th-19th centuries.

Folk art of the Belozersk district

Exhibitions dedicated to the folk applied art and handicrafts of the Belozersk district are placed in the spacious vaulted chambers of the monastery cook-house of the 16th century. An important place is occupied by wood-carving, ceramics, peasant embroidery, weaving, lace-making and a folk female costume of the 19th-early 20th centuries.

Walls and bell-tower will be open for visitors at weekend

We remind visitors of an opportunity to have a good time and to spend quality time in the Kirillo-Belozersky Museum-Reserve at the weekend.

1) To ascend the walls in winter? It is real now. People will be able to do it tomorrow, on December 6. It is a wonderful chance for professional and amateur photographers to replenish their collection with winter views of the Kirillo-Belozersky Monastery.

Please note: the walls will be open for visitors till the end of the year and only at the weekend from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Admission by ticket.

2) Various temporary and permanent exhibitions will be open on Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Is there a chance to visit the museum without paying anything for it or getting a considerable discount? It is very easy!

The display “Sketches of Different Years…” about the creative work of Nikolay Baskakov and Dzhanna Tutundzhan is open in the conference hall on workdays.

The action for pupils and students:

The action for pupils and students started in the Kirillo-Belozersky Museum-Reserve in November. It will last till the end of the year. If they book a tour of the expositions “Antiquities of Belozersk District”, Folk Art of Belozersk District” and the Museum of Town and District History, they will pay only the guide service. They won’t have to buy entrance tickets that will be given free of charge.
