History of the region based on the materials of archeological excavations” is being opened on the lowest floor of the Church of the Presentation of the Virgin in the Temple with the refectory. It is the first full exhibition representing archaeology of the Belozersk district in the Vologda Region. Materials of the monastery archeology are displayed for the first time in our region. More than 4000 archeological objects dating back to different chronological periods are represented there: from the Mesolithic period (9000 B.C.) till the late Middle Ages.
At the end of the 20th – early 21st century considerable restoration work has been carried out in the Kirillo-Belozersky museum-reserve. Museumfication of the monuments is being realized at the same time. One of the most interesting architectural buildings of the Kirillo-Belozersky monastery is the Monks’ cells. In the process of its restoration architects and restorers managed to discover complicated structure of this dwelling house of the 17th-19th centuries.
Exhibitions dedicated to the folk applied art and handicrafts of the Belozersk district are placed in the spacious vaulted chambers of the monastery cook-house of the 16th century. An important place is occupied by wood-carving, ceramics, peasant embroidery, weaving, lace-making and a folk female costume of the 19th-early 20th centuries.

The Kirillo-Belozersky Museum-Reserve will take part in the 16th International Festival “Intermuseum 2014”. It will be held in the Manezh Central Exhibition Hall (Moscow) from June 3 to 9, 2014.

During many years, the “Intermuseum” Festival has been serving the purpose of professional development of museum affairs in Russia, forming the idea of traditions and new tendencies, practices and techniques in the activity of a modern museum. The subject of the forthcoming event is “Museum to the Digital Epoch”.

The Kirillo-Belozersky Museum-Reserve will take an active part in the competition program of the festival. The results of the first stage have already been announced in the following nominations: “Grand Prix”, “Museum Environment – Art to Create”, “Museum Holdings – to Preserve and to Display”, “Museum – Regional Centre of Attraction”, “Museum in the Information Space”.

Two projects of the Kirillo-Belozersky Museum-Reserve have reached the second stage. One of them is ‘Wireless control system of temperature and humidity conditions “Wi-climate™”. It was installed in six monuments of the Kirillo-Belozersky Monastery, including the Dormition Cathedral. Another project is “Iconostasis of the Dormition Cathedral” in Moscow and “Icons Painted by the Masters of the Tsar's Court” in Kirillov. It was implemented within the framework of the cooperation of the Moscow Kremlin Museums and the Kirillo-Belozersky Museum-Reserve: two museums exchanged the exhibits for temporary displays. Thanks to this project, the exhibition “Iconostasis of the Dormition Cathedral of the Kirillo-Belozersky Monastery” was open in Moscow and people in Kirillov could see the display “Icons Painted by the Masters of the Tsar’s Court”.

The second part of the competition will be held during the festival itself. The projects will be presented to the jury in the public meeting hall. The judges will estimate them and determine the winner.
