History of the region based on the materials of archeological excavations” is being opened on the lowest floor of the Church of the Presentation of the Virgin in the Temple with the refectory. It is the first full exhibition representing archaeology of the Belozersk district in the Vologda Region. Materials of the monastery archeology are displayed for the first time in our region. More than 4000 archeological objects dating back to different chronological periods are represented there: from the Mesolithic period (9000 B.C.) till the late Middle Ages.
At the end of the 20th – early 21st century considerable restoration work has been carried out in the Kirillo-Belozersky museum-reserve. Museumfication of the monuments is being realized at the same time. One of the most interesting architectural buildings of the Kirillo-Belozersky monastery is the Monks’ cells. In the process of its restoration architects and restorers managed to discover complicated structure of this dwelling house of the 17th-19th centuries.
Exhibitions dedicated to the folk applied art and handicrafts of the Belozersk district are placed in the spacious vaulted chambers of the monastery cook-house of the 16th century. An important place is occupied by wood-carving, ceramics, peasant embroidery, weaving, lace-making and a folk female costume of the 19th-early 20th centuries.

The one-man exhibition of Russia’s Honoured Artist Galina Nikitichna Mamrovskaya is open in the Kirillo-Belozersky Museum-Reserve.

The exhibition titled “Melody of Eternity” presenting the works of Russia’s Honoured Artist Galina Nikitichna Mamrovskaya was opened in the Treasury Chamber. Galina Mamrovskaya herself, her relatives and friends, employees of the Vologda State Museum-Preserve, the Museum of Lace, the Kirillo-Belozersky Museum-Reserve and residents of Kirillov attended the opening ceremony. Visitors can see 109 items in the display: lace articles, awards, letters of gratitude, books, and photos from the personal archive. There are some exhibits from the collection of the Vologda State Museum-Preserve and the Vologda Regional Picture Gallery.

Galina Nikitichna Mamrovskaya is an artist of brilliant original talent. She is the member of the Union of Russian Artists since 1977. In 1996, she was given the title of the Honoured Artist of the Russian Federation. She worked as a chief designer in the Vologda Lace Company “Snowflake” from 1986 to 2006. She created over 300 patterns of lace articles within this time. Galina Mamrovskaya took an active part in the republican contests of new samples of the highly artistic works in 1976, 1982 and 1985.

Her articles were presented at Russian and foreign exhibitions in Mongolia, Hungary, Finland, Austria, Sweden, India, Greece, France, Belgium, the Netherlands. She participated as an expert of lace-making in the International Fair in Greece in 1983, in Mozambique – in 1984, in Finland – in 1986.

She was awarded the Lenin Komsomol Prize for the creation of highly artistic lace mass-production items and the preservation of traditions of Vologda lace. Her works were given the Gold medals of the National Economy Achievement Exhibition twice. She was a member of the Arts Council of Decorative and Applied Arts in the Ministry of Culture of the RSFSR in the Vologda region for several years. In 1986, Galina Mamrovskaya became the laureate of the Fourth Quadriennale of Artistic Skills of Socialist Countries in Erfurt. She was given the diploma by the Presidium and the Department of Decorative and Applied Arts of the Russian Academy of Arts for creation of the lace panel “My Russia, Guard Me” (2000). It was signed by Zurab Tsereteli, president of the Russian Academy of Arts.

The works of Galina Mamrovskaya are kept in the museum collections of Moscow, St. Petersburg, Syktyvkar, Archangelsk, Murmansk, Suma, Krasnoyarsk, Lipetsk, Riga, Leipzig (Germany), Zwolle (the Netherlands), Vologda, Cherepovets, Kirillov.
