The Museum of Dionisy’s Frescoes will organize the “Ilyinsky Festival” on August 2. It will be opened in the museum complex “Tsypino” (in the outskirts of Ferapontovo) at noon. Everybody can join in it, admission is free.
Guests will be able to get to the atmosphere of the 19th-20th centuries and to see scenes from the life of people of the Tsypino village, to see how creative youth of this area had a rest, to listen to ancient romances and poems. The program of the holiday will also include amusements, a lottery, contests, a tea party and many other interesting events.
The folklore ensembles “Sudarushka” (the Kaduy district) and “Bereginya” (Cherepovets) will perform for the guests. An exhibition of clay articles created by local craftsmen – S. Fenveshi, V. Tyulin, A. Gurin, and N. Trubnikov - is due to be opened in the Church of St. Prophet Elijah. Besides, everybody will be able to see the launching of a boat on Ilyinsky Lake.
You will be also able to take part in master-classes in pottery, birth bark weaving, lace-making, smithcraft, and boat-making, to have your pictures taken in the photo salon, to play folk games and to visit the wooden Church of St. Prophet Elijah (built in 1755).
The festival program includes several unusual events. For example, guests will be able to listen to American blues performed by “Willie J. Laws Band” (USA). The concert of the music group will take place within the framework of the Festival of Traditional American Music that will be opened in Vologda on August 1.
Besides, hunting with hounds will be first presented in Tsypino. It is an affecting spectacle with participation of Russian hunting sighthounds.
