Bishop of Vologda and Veliky Ustiug Ignaty conducted a vigil in the main church of the Kirillo-Belozersky Monastery on August 27, on the eve of the Dormition (Assumption) of the Virgin.
He was concelebrated by: Father Superior Dionisy (Vozdvizhensky), Father Superior of the Kirillo-Belozersky Monastery Ignaty (Mochanov), head of the Bishop’s Yard in the Ferapontov Monastery, hieromonk Ioasaf (Vishnyakov), dean of the Kirillov district, archpriest Vladimir Kolosov, head of the Cultural Department, priest Arseny Shulgin, clergymen of the Vologda eparchy.
Mikhail Sharomazov, director of the Kirillo-Belozersky Museum-Reserve, Sergey Usov, head of the Kirillov district; famous Russian film director Nikolay Dostal, local parishioners and believers who came to Kirillov from other cities went to the night service.
According to the information posted on the website of the Vologda eparchy, Bishop Ignaty performed the monk ordination ceremony in the Church of St. Kirill after the vigil. Lay brothers Valery and Boris took the monastic vows and were named Ferapont and Galaktion respectively.
Services in the cathedral were also conducted on the feast of the Dormition of the Virgin itself. The liturgy has been offered today in the morning. It has been concluded with a religious procession.
