The gala concert of the Tenth Moscow International Festival of Children’s Creative Activity “Native Shore” took place in the Kirillo-Belozersky Museum-Reserve yesterday, on August 19.

The cloudy day changed for the better as soon as young artists appeared on the scene during the opening ceremony of the event. Their stage images were as bright as the colour of their costumes. The Russian three-coloured banner was hoisted over all this colourful splendour. The festival has been held for the tenth time and Kirillov has hosted the guests of Moscow for the third time. The previous gala concerts took place in 2010 and 2012. This year’s concert was titled “Children of Russia – To Heroes of Motherland”.

The festival started on August 17 in Moscow from where its participants set off for a 10-day river cruise along the Russian cities. This event has its own format from the very beginning that helps to mix business with pleasure. Travelling on the motor ship “Nikolay Karamzin”, children visit Russian cities, learn about their history and traditions and perfect their artistic skills. The groups perform both on the motor ship and on land. New joint numbers are often created during such trips.

Residents and guests of Kirillov who could come to the concert on a workday didn’t regret. Every number – a song, a dance or a theatrical performance - was good in its own right. Spectators applauded the “Sworn Brother” group that executed dances of different peoples during the whole number. They were also interested in the life history of St. Sergius of Radonezh that was presented to them during several minutes. The groups “Youth of Russia”, “Mlada”, “Capital”, “Relax”, “Fortune Show”, and “Talisman” told about our country and its different parts that were small Motherland or native shore for some of them. They also glorified the heroes of Russia – from Orthodox saints to participants of the Great Patriotic War – those who were loyal to their Motherland even in the hardest time, sometimes sacrificing themselves. This concert was the first museum event marking the 70th anniversary of the victory of the Soviet people over the fascism.

Local singers from Kirillov - Artyom Polkovnikov, Varvara Makina and the “Golden Age” group – also appeared on the scene on that day. They were awarded diplomas of the laureates.

Besides, the organizers expressed their gratitude to Sergey Belyashov, head of the Department of Cultural Events. Lyubov Belova, director general of the festival, congratulated the museum on the 90th anniversary of its foundation, praised the employees and wished them prosperity. “It is very pleasant to visit you and to give a concert once again. We see novelties in comparison with the previous years. For example, you have a wonderful stage that has become a real present for us”. All groups participating in the festival were given books about the museum.
