History of the region based on the materials of archeological excavations” is being opened on the lowest floor of the Church of the Presentation of the Virgin in the Temple with the refectory. It is the first full exhibition representing archaeology of the Belozersk district in the Vologda Region. Materials of the monastery archeology are displayed for the first time in our region. More than 4000 archeological objects dating back to different chronological periods are represented there: from the Mesolithic period (9000 B.C.) till the late Middle Ages.
At the end of the 20th – early 21st century considerable restoration work has been carried out in the Kirillo-Belozersky museum-reserve. Museumfication of the monuments is being realized at the same time. One of the most interesting architectural buildings of the Kirillo-Belozersky monastery is the Monks’ cells. In the process of its restoration architects and restorers managed to discover complicated structure of this dwelling house of the 17th-19th centuries.
Exhibitions dedicated to the folk applied art and handicrafts of the Belozersk district are placed in the spacious vaulted chambers of the monastery cook-house of the 16th century. An important place is occupied by wood-carving, ceramics, peasant embroidery, weaving, lace-making and a folk female costume of the 19th-early 20th centuries.

The celebrations of the 90th anniversary of the Kirillo-Belozersky Museum-Reserve have been lasting for the whole year. But the museum staff accepted official congratulations on Friday, September 5. Colleagues, representatives of the authorities, friends and visitors who came to Kirillov congratulated the museum from morning till evening. Many used Internet for it.

For example, Vyacheslav Pozgalev, deputy of the State Duma, posted a congratulatory address on his Facebook page. He underlined that today’s activity of the museum was many-sided and necessary both for researchers, usual travelers, and local residents. “Please us with your new creative ideas, expositions, holidays, seminars and symposiums, especially taking into account, that you do it very well”. The following congratulation was placed on Twitter of the State Historical Museum: “We congratulate the Kirillo-Belozersky Museum-Reserve on the 90th anniversary! It is considerable age. We wish every success!” The colleagues of the Esenin Museum supported it.

Meanwhile, the Art Festival “The Property of Republic” was held in the museum itself. It was opened on the stage of the New Town at 14:00. The concert program “To Keepers of Russian Heritage” was about museum employees and their activity. But first everybody could see recordings of the local residents’ congratulations on a large screen. Ensembles and solo singers from Moscow, Vologda, Cherepovets and Kirillov participated in the concert. Their performances alternated with warm congratulations of the official guests and an award ceremony of the museum employees.

Everybody could join in the celebrations and come to the evening events of the Art Festival “The Property of Republic” when the working day was over. Spectators greeted with cheers the Song, Music and Dance Ensemble directed by Honoured Art Worker of Russia Yuri Tsepelev, the vocal trio “Trust” (Alexander Khasov, Tatiana Orlova and Anastasia Orlova), Alexey Sidorov and Oleg Yemelyanov.

The wind band of Vologda under the direction of conductor, Honoured Artist of Russia Viktor Kochnev first appeared on the scene of the museum on that day. It got dark at that time and the musicians looked especially bright and solemnly on the illumined stage. The audience liked their performance and applauded them after each composition. They also played an encore at the end of the program.

The final event took place in the Assumption Cathedral that had been open for visitors only in 2014. The concert of church music given by the choir “Resurrection” under the direction of conductor Sergey Zuev lasted for about an hour.

The Art Festival “The Property of Republic” marking the 90th anniversary of the Kirillo-Belozersky Museum-Reserve concluded the cycle of open air events held in 2014. But many other interesting programs will be prepared for the guests of the museum – the celebrations will continue till the end of the year.
