On September 3, a group of Petersburg artists working at the Imperial Porcelain Factory came to the Kirillo-Belozersky Museum-Reserve. The Imperial Porcelain Factory was founded in Saint Petersburg in 1744 by the order of Empress Elizabeth. It became the first porcelain manufactory in Russia and the third one in Europe. It was there where the secret of “white gold” was revealed – porcelain the quality of which was as good as the Dresden Meissen china and the mass composition approached the China one.
At present the factory manufactures tea, coffer and dinner sets, souvenirs, figurines, and replicas of the museum collection of the 18th – 20th centuries. The delegation that visited Kirillov consisted of famous People’s Artists of Russia A.V. Vorobyovsky and I.I. Riznich, academician of the Academy of Arts N.P. Slavina, chairperson of the Art Council, Honoured Artist of Russia N.L. Petrova, adviser of the director general A.I. Kucherov and others. The guests were delighted with the icon collection of our museum and admired the pearl of Old Russian painting – the iconostasis of the Assumption Cathedral.
