The project “It is My Town” was presented in the Kirillo-Belozersky Museum-Reserve on Friday. Its initiators - activists of the Youth Centre “Alfa” – told about their creative plans connected with a rather unusual method of study of history of Kirillov and even change of its appearance. A.V. Yulin, deputy head of the Kirillov District Administration; A.Y. Kotov, Mayor of Kirillov; Ilya Smirnov, deputy director of the Kirillo-Belozersky Museum-Reserve, and Albina Yurkova, deputy chief editor of the newspaper “Novaya Zhizn” took part in the event.
This project is based on a really global idea – to foster love and respect for the past, the present and the future of the native region. To achieve this goal, it is necessary to attract young people’s attention to historical and cultural sites of Kirillov and then to give them an opportunity to study the heritage. It is not a secret that the problem of self-education is often solved with the help of the Internet now.
The project “It is My Town” is such a case. It consists of a number of actions, contests and games. Something new will be offered every month. The main venue for all events will be the group “Our Favourite Historical Town of Kirillov” in the social networking site “Vkontakte” - http://vk.com/moy_kirillov. It is also the main information resource of the project. Interesting materials in various sections will be placed there along with posts about actions and contests. Pupils, students, working youth and people of other age categories can join in the project. You should just want it and be registered in “Vkontakte” for it.
One of the actions started on October 1. It is known by the hashtag #Êèðèëëîâñïàìÿòíèêîì. Local residents post their selfies against a background of the historical monument on the personal web pages. We can even see the natural monument in their pictures - the English oak growing in the Kirillo-Belozersky Museum-Reserve. Now the action is going on.
During the presentation, the project of the young activists – pupils of the 10th form – was supported by representatives of the local self-government, the Kirillo-Belozersky Museum-Reserve and the editorial staff of the newspaper “Novaya Zhizn”. Hence you can follow the news, including the ones placed in the museum group.
