Museumfication of the monuments is being realized at the same time. One of the most interesting architectural buildings of the Kirillo-Belozersky monastery is the Monks’ cells. In the process of its restoration architects and restorers managed to discover complicated structure of this dwelling house of the 17th-19th centuries.
Exhibitions dedicated to the folk applied art and handicrafts of the Belozersk district are placed in the spacious vaulted chambers of the monastery cook-house of the 16th century. An important place is occupied by wood-carving, ceramics, peasant embroidery, weaving, lace-making and a folk female costume of the 19th-early 20th centuries.

When the autumn set in, the club-studio of miniature “Doll’s House” headed by People’s Artist of Russia Marina Vasilieva opened its doors for friends and guests of the Kirillo-Belozersky Museum-Reserve. The light of its windows in the fortifications of the New Town is especially amiable at twilight. Sometimes real miracles are performed there like in any doll’s house. Tiny dolls made of clay or cotton wool rise at the lessons “Mites on palm”. Snow-white skirts of the clay ladies are decorated with bright patterns during the master-classes “Dymkovo toy”. You can hear scrape of the pen at the “Russian historical calligraphy” lesson when people write intricate lines of the ancient ligatured script. Studying the Old Church Slavonic, you can read texts of the ancient books and understand the meaning of words that are not used any more. Besides, clear sounds of the constantly rotating potter’s wheel can be heard every day.

A cycle of master-classes “Fascinating plans” will begin in the new school year where people will make 3D post-cards. Everybody has faced the problem of choice of the postcard for relatives and friends at least once. There is an opinion that the best present is the one created by yourself. It is true because it is not only unique and original, but it is also made with love.

You can write a nice text in the hand-made card attending the master-class “Beautiful handwriting”. It is not a secret that people feel shy of their handwriting today. But a man without handwriting is a man without a face, metaphorically speaking. A good hand is accessible for everybody like a nice autograph that is a visiting card of the person. Study of classical traditions of writing helps a lot in this issue. They include rules of forming, methods of construction and binding of separate letters, rhythm of the penscript. First participants will work with a flat pen (“italic type”) and then with a pointed pen (“anglais”).

Master-classes are delivered by People’s Artist of Russia Marina Vasilieva in the morning and in the evening on weekdays and weekends. You can sign up by telephone +79115425557.
