History of the region based on the materials of archeological excavations” is being opened on the lowest floor of the Church of the Presentation of the Virgin in the Temple with the refectory. It is the first full exhibition representing archaeology of the Belozersk district in the Vologda Region. Materials of the monastery archeology are displayed for the first time in our region. More than 4000 archeological objects dating back to different chronological periods are represented there: from the Mesolithic period (9000 B.C.) till the late Middle Ages.
At the end of the 20th – early 21st century considerable restoration work has been carried out in the Kirillo-Belozersky museum-reserve. Museumfication of the monuments is being realized at the same time. One of the most interesting architectural buildings of the Kirillo-Belozersky monastery is the Monks’ cells. In the process of its restoration architects and restorers managed to discover complicated structure of this dwelling house of the 17th-19th centuries.
Exhibitions dedicated to the folk applied art and handicrafts of the Belozersk district are placed in the spacious vaulted chambers of the monastery cook-house of the 16th century. An important place is occupied by wood-carving, ceramics, peasant embroidery, weaving, lace-making and a folk female costume of the 19th-early 20th centuries.

The International Day of Older Persons is celebrated in Russia on October 1. But this date is an international one, as it was officially established at the 45th United Nations General Assembly in 1991. Various events are held all over the world on this day: festivals, actions, meetings and event large conferences and congresses about the rights and roles of elderly people in the society.

The delegation of veterans of the Department of Culture, Tourism and Cultural Heritage Preservation in the Vologda region came to the Kirillo-Belozersky Museum-Reserve yesterday. These people have worked in this department for many years and are pensioners now. A tea party was organized for the guests. Museum director Mikhail Sharomazov personally greeted them. During the lively conversation, the veterans learnt about the museum activity today and prospects of its development. A tour was also conducted for them during which they went to see the exhibitions on the Refectory (including the exposition “Antiquities of Belozersk District”), the Assumption Cathedral, the Church of St. Kirill Belozersky and area of the functional monastery.

The meeting of representatives of the veterans’ organization of the Kirillo-Belozersky Museum-Reserve has been held in the conference hall today, on October 1. Congratulating them, Mikhail Sharomazov has noted that he always becomes a beginner once a year as he sees the people whose long life (up to pension) was connected with the museum: “I am very glad to see you and sincerely congratulate you on the holiday. I hope that your life is still full of events and you have efforts and time for everything”.

The film “I Believe!” directed by Lidia Bobrova, winner of the main prize of the 11th Shukshin Festival in Barnaul and the prize of the festival “Golden Vityaz”, was screened within the framework of the new program “Foreign Evenings in Kirillov”. The veterans had tea at the end of the performance.

The second event of the program will take place in the conference hall tomorrow. Visitors will get a wonderful opportunity to meet with Lidia Bobrova, film director of the studio “Lenfilm”, and to see her two works “Babusya” and “In That Country”. The meetings will begin at 12:30 and 17:00. Admission is free.
