The display marking the centenary of the First World War has been opened in the Museum of Town and District History today, on November 7. It is about local residents who participated in the war that started in 1914. Teachers of history and social sciences of the district schools attended the opening ceremony. An educational seminar was specially organized for them in the museum.
Research officer M.K. Ivanova conducted an interesting tour for them on behalf of the daughter of the district doctor J.Y. Nodelman who used to live there. L.V. Terebova, head of the Scientific Department, told about the new exhibition. Every participant of the event was given a booklet containing information about the Full Cavaliers of the Cross of St. George – natives of the Kirillov district. Museum guide A.V. Tsvetkov read the lecture on the reconstruction of the Canal of Duke Alexander of Württemberg during the First World War. Besides, the teachers could see books from the scientific library of the museum about the discussed issues.
I.V. Romanova, head of the association of teachers of history and social sciences, expressed her opinion about the seminar organization. She recommended her colleagues to use the potential of the Kirillo-Belozersky Museum-Reserve for the work with pupils and told them the documents of the RF Ministry of Education and Science connected with the State Unified Exam and the Main State Exam.
