The Day of Knowledge is being celebrated in Russia today. The summer holidays are over and the new school year begins. By tradition, employees of the Kirillo-Belozersky Museum-Reserve – L.V. Terebova, M.N. Travnikova, A.N. Kalikina, A.V. Vedenina - read lectures for the pupils of the Kirillov secondary school. The lessons were conducted for children of almost all age – from the elementary to senior grades. They were about St. Serguius of Radonezh (St. Kirill Belozersky was his disciple) and the role of the Vologda region in the Russian history. Besides, N.I. Khrulyova, employee of the Department of Visitor Relations, went to the Goritsy secondary school.
Employees of the Museum of Dionisy’s Frescoes also took part in the Day of Knowledge. S.V. Bunin and N.A. Chistyakova reported the pupils of the Ferapontovo secondary school about the life of St. Sergius of Radonezh. The 700th anniversary of the birth of this great Russian saint is celebrated in Russia during the whole year. A number of events held in different museums of the country are timed to it. M.S. Serebryakova met with children of the local kindergarten and conducted the lesson titled “Ferapontovo – My Native Land” for them.
Besides, students of the Vologda Regional Training School of Culture visited the Kirillo-Belozersky Museum-Reserve themselves. Deputy director Ilya Smirnov congratulated them of the holiday and gave a small lecture. It was about the topical subject in 2014 – the First World War. The students learnt about the life of the Kirillov district during those difficult years. As many young people came to study in Kirillov from other districts of the Vologda region, this lecture gave them a chance to get acquainted with the history of Kirillov and its outskirts.
