The Third Easter Festival “Low Sunday” came to an end in the Kirillo-Belozersky Museum-Reserve yesterday, on April 27. A whole number of events took place during the week. Spectators could see theatrical performances and concert programs. Information about some of them has already been placed on our website.
A colourful event titled “Praised with Music” was held on Wednesday, April 23. The artists of the Cherepovets Philharmonic Society executed fragments of musical comedies and songs from the Soviet films.
The theatre studio “Tale” of the Sunday school in the Kirillo-Belozersky Monastery presented the Easter play “Savely Bogatov and Mikola Milostivoy” in the conference hall yesterday at noon. First
Father Superior of the Kirillo-Belozersky Monastery Ignaty addressed a meeting and wished a happy Easter that was celebrated during the whole week. Then children – members of the theatre studio - appeared on the scene. Their performance was based on the folk fairy tale with the same title. Its plot confirms the proverb that everybody gets his just deserts. Besides, results of the contest of children’s drawings were summed up on that day.
The final event of the festival – the performance “Fulfillment of Desires” about creative work of Sasha Chorny, poet of the Silver Age of Russian poetry – attracted a capacity crowd. It was presented by the Literary Theatre of the Cherepovets Philharmonic Society. The artists told about the poet’s difficult fate and creative work on behalf of two persons that personified one man – Alexander Glickberg who used nom de plume Sasha Chorny. He became widely recognized as an author of lyrico-satiric feuilletons written in verses. Spectators liked acting of Tatiana Durnova and Elena Kuzmina and thanked them with loud applause. After the play, they shared enthusiastic comments with each other.
