The Museum of Dionisy’s Frescoes has been successfully cooperating with the secondary school of Ferapontovo for a long time, but collaboration with the local kindergarten was rather rare. Children went to the museum and attended the lessons conducted by museum employees from time to time.
The educational program for the work with kids “Ray” was elaborated in 2014. It includes elements of learning the world around us, acquaintance with the events of the Old and New Testament, history of the Orthodox Church and Russia. Lessons are conducted once in two weeks during the whole year. Children of middle and senior groups attend them.
If you only tell something to the kids at such meetings, they will be certainly tired of it quickly. It doesn’t matter how interesting the subject is. Therefore game elements, elements of drawing and application are included into the event. Modern boys and girls know about Orthodox holidays and Jesus Christ, but their knowledge is fragmentary and unsystematic. Kids should know traditions of the Orthodox life, should treat each other, their teachers and parents with respect and love, should understand the meaning of their name and value it. These are the goals of the program. Children are pleased to see the museum employee in the kindergarten and to remind of the topic of the previous lesson.
