Employees of the Kirillo-Belozersky Museum-Reserve Olga Kuzmichyova and Ekaterina Nikolaeva took part in the district conference of local history “World through Culture” on January 25. This event was organized by the Education Department of the Kirillov District Administration. It was held in the secondary school of the town. The goals of the conference were intensification of pupils’ research work on the study of history of the Vologda region, its cultural and military past, sights and monuments, problems of geography, archeology, toponymy, folklore and ethnography. The participants defended their researches in six directions.
The museum employees estimated the reports in such directions as “Chronicle of native places” and “Living past”. The presented works were about the history of the Ferapontov Monastery, the Church of the Presentation of the Virgin in the Temple in Goritsy, the history of the Zvoz village, the collective farm “Nikolotorzhsky”, the manufacture of button accordions in the Kirillov district. The pupils’ researches were about local history, their subjects were topical. The children carried out large work that was highly appreciated by the jury.
