Expositions and exhibitions of the Kirillo-Belozersky museum-reserve were open for visitors since January 2, 2014. The festival of folklore, fairy tales and Russian heroes titled “Siversky Tales” was also opened on that day. Its program mainly included concerts.

Guests from Vologda Lyubov Zvereva and the Ensemble of Russian Folk Instruments were the first who appeared on the scene of the conference hall. Then Alexander Tyukhov and Yevgeny Platonov presented their concert program. On January 4, the museum visitors were told about tales, epic poems, and spiritual verse by theatre and film actress Lyudmila Ivanishchenko and composer Alexey Zakharov (St. Petersburg). They also hold a concert of fairy tales and games for children in the exposition of the Cook-house the next day.

This year’s winter went out with extremely warm weather: there was almost now snow in Kirillov on the New Year’s Eve. But the winter military and historical festival titled “Character of the North” was held already in the winter setting - the snow fell just a day prior to the event that took place in the New Town of the museum by tradition and consisted of several parts. It was opened with historical reenactment of medieval fights of the 14th-15th centuries: Russian heroes struggled with knights. Members of the fist-fighting group “Busa” entertained spectators with Russian folk (heroic!) amusements actively involving people in them. Historical reenactment clubs of not only Cherepovets, but also Nizhny Novgorod joined in the festival in 2014. Besides, the Open Day was held in the club-studio of miniature “Doll’s House” of People’s Artist of Russia Marina Vasilieva on January 5.

Admirers of theatre art could see the one-man performance (based on the poem-tale of Marina Tsvetaeva) of Lyubov Gubernatorova, actress of the Fringe Theatre-Studio “Sonnet” in Vologda, on January 6.

The event “Christmas Night in the Museum” was held on January 7. The concert program “Gusli through Countries and Centuries” of famous gusli player Pavel Lukoyanov, graduate of Gnessin Russian Academy of Music, made a lasting impression on the audience. It turned out that you could play various melodies with the help of gusli. Piano virtuoso Vladimir Rumyantsev, winner of the First All-Russian Television Contest “Nutcracker” and laureate of international awards and prizes, also participated in the concert. Spectators were admired with the performance and the atmosphere of live music. The Christmas event was concluded with another concert given by singer Anastasia Orlova, Alexey Sidorov (actor of the Theatre of Romance of Valentina Ponomaryova who played the guitar), and Larisa Govorukhina (flute).

Young actors of the theatre studio “Tale” of the Sunday school entered on the scene of the conference hall on January 8. They presented the play “Snow Maiden”. Father Superior of the Kirillo-Belozersky Monastery Ignaty wished everybody a Merry Christmas. He also paid attention to several important moments in the relations of parents and children in his speech. The performance lasted for about one hour and attracted a capacity crowd.

The winter holidays are over. The whole year is before us. The Kirillo-Belozersky museum-reserve will celebrate the 90th anniversary of its foundation in 2014. A number of interesting events will be prepared for visitors of the museum – adults and children, local residents and guests of Kirillov – on the occasion of this significant date.
