Our museum has traditionally prepared a large cultural program for residents and guests of Kirillov during the New Year’s holidays. Its holding will be subject to the main holidays celebrated at this time – the New Year’s Day and Christmas. The Kirillo-Belozersky museum-reserve invites children and adults to visit the land of fairy tales, epic heroes and merry amusements from January 2 to 11, 2014. Both local artists and guests from other cities will entertain people.
Lyudmila Ivanishchenko, theatre and film actress and elocutionist, will come to Kirillov from St. Petersburg. She will give a concert “Tales, Epic Poems, Spiritual Verse” in the conference hall of the museum together with her husband Alexey Zakharov. Lyudmila Ivanishchenko turns to the sources of Russian culture in her creative work. She tells folk and Novgorod tales and tales of the northern region. Her repertoire also contains “Private Notes of Mother Superior Taisya”. Besides, the actress hosts the cycle of programs “People’s Piety” on the Orthodox radio of St. Petersburg. Alexey Zakharov, turned out to be among folklore specialists, having graduated from the St. Petersburg State Conservatoire. He founded the folklore ensemble “Domostroy”. The husband and wife have been going on expeditions to Russian villages to record precious folklore material for more than 30 years. Church music composed by Alexey Zakharov is based on the traditions of folk culture. The guests will give a separate concert for children where they will present tales, calendar and ritual songs and traditional games. This event will be held in the Cook-house.
The winter military and historical festival titled “Character of the North” will take place in the museum on January 5. It will begin at noon. Members of historical reenactment clubs from Cherepovets, Nizhny Novgorod, Ivanovo, Moscow, Archangelsk, Veliky Novgorod, Vyborg and St. Petersburg, the fist-fighting group “Busa” plan to participate in the event. Spectators will be able to join in “Winter Amusements” prepared by students and teachers of the Vologda Regional Training School of Culture. The entrance ticket for the festival costs 50 roubles - for children, 100 roubles - for pensioners, 150 roubles - for all the rest.
Lyubov Gubernatorova, actress of the Fringe Theatre-Studio “Sonnet” in Vologda, will present the one-man performance based on the poem-tale of Marina Tsvetaeva on the Christmas Eve. Admission for children is free; a ticket for adults costs 50 roubles.
The event “Christmas Night in the Museum” will be held on January 7. It will consist of two programs. Pavel Lukoyanov, laureate of international contests, professional gusli player, will especially come from Moscow to take part in the “Christmas Night in the Museum”. The concert program which he will present is titled “Gusli through Countries and Centuries”. Gusli is the most ancient musical instrument. People of different epochs, nationalities and religions used it. It consoled them in grief, united in joy and boldness, strengthened in battles, prophesied about the eternal… The gusli was a really legendary instrument in ancient Russia expressing the soul of our people. The performance of the gusli player in Kirillov will become a unique event held in the museum for the first time! Lyudmila Kaynova (pianist from Moscow, laureate of international contests) will perform together with Pavel Lukoyanov. The concert will begin at 18:00.
The event titled “Songs from My Grandmother’s Writing-Book” with participation of Anastasia Orlova (vocal), Alexey Sidorov (guitar), and Larisa Govorukhina (flute) will take place in the museum at 21:00. We can find songs of different genres in the writing-books of our grandmothers – Soviet variety art, songs from popular films, romances. These are favourite songs of the 20th century, the songs that have become really popular, the songs that still affect us. Alexey Sidorov is a composer, professional guitarist, actor of the Theatre of Romance of Valentina Ponomaryova. Larisa Govorukhina is a musician of Vologda, teacher of flute and saxophone in the Children’s Music Theatre. Anastasia Orlova is a laureate of international and All-Russian contests of variety and art songs, and romances.
The Christmas festival will be continued on January 8. The theatre studio “Tale” of the Sunday school in the Kirillo-Belozersky Monastery will present a play titled “Snow Maiden”.
