History of the region based on the materials of archeological excavations” is being opened on the lowest floor of the Church of the Presentation of the Virgin in the Temple with the refectory. It is the first full exhibition representing archaeology of the Belozersk district in the Vologda Region. Materials of the monastery archeology are displayed for the first time in our region. More than 4000 archeological objects dating back to different chronological periods are represented there: from the Mesolithic period (9000 B.C.) till the late Middle Ages.
At the end of the 20th – early 21st century considerable restoration work has been carried out in the Kirillo-Belozersky museum-reserve. Museumfication of the monuments is being realized at the same time. One of the most interesting architectural buildings of the Kirillo-Belozersky monastery is the Monks’ cells. In the process of its restoration architects and restorers managed to discover complicated structure of this dwelling house of the 17th-19th centuries.
Exhibitions dedicated to the folk applied art and handicrafts of the Belozersk district are placed in the spacious vaulted chambers of the monastery cook-house of the 16th century. An important place is occupied by wood-carving, ceramics, peasant embroidery, weaving, lace-making and a folk female costume of the 19th-early 20th centuries.

Mikhail Mizintsev, major general, head of the Central Command Point of the RF General Staff, came to the Kirillo-Belozersky museum-reserve together with his wife. They saw the exhibitions in the House of the Father Superior and the Refectory. Mikhail Mizintsev signed the Distinguished Visitors’ Book and shared his impressions: “I am delighted! Wonderful employees are preserving the rich history of our spirituality. Thank you very much! God grant you good health and happiness”. Besides, during the private visit to the Kirillov district, the guests went to see the Museum of Dionisy’s Frescoes and the village of Kurakino where the museum and the workshop of Nina Mishintseva, pottery designer of the Vologda region, were located.

Mikhail Mizintsev was born in the Syamzha district of the Vologda region. He studied in the Suvorov Military School (Tver), the Kiev Higher Combined-Arms Command School, the Military Academy named after M.V. Frunze and the Military Academy of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. He served in the group of the Soviet troops in Germany during six years, and in the South Caucasus Military District from 1989 to 1993. He lived in the Vologda region for some time and taught German in the Cherepovets Higher Engineering School of Radio Electronics. He served in the Main Operations Directorate of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation since the late 1990s. In August 2012, Mikhail Mizintsev was appointed head of the Central Command Point of the RF General Staff. He was awarded medals, the Order for Service to the Motherland of the 3rd degree, and the Decoration “For Impeccable Service”.
