Participants of the working group promoting the project “Silver Ring of Russia” visited the Kirillo-Belozersky museum-reserve on October 15. Their off-site meeting was held in Vologda the day before. This project is implemented in the North-West of Russia and unites the architectural and cultural heritage of St. Petersburg and its outskirts, the Leningrad, the Pskov, the Archangelsk and the Vologda regions and the Republic of Karelia. 33 architectural and landscape zones that have historical and natural value have been marked within the “Silver Ring”. The project embraces 7 architectural and landscape zones in the Vologda region, including the Kirillo-Belozersky area. Kirillov is its centre with the main sight – the complex of the Kirillo-Belozersky Monastery.
The working group was established to promote the project. It consists of over 100 representatives of various organizations. Thanks to the organizers, project “Silver Ring of Russia” was included into the federal special-purpose program “Development of Domestic and Incoming Tourism in the Russian Federation in 2011-2018”.
