200 representatives of the museum society of St. Petersburg came to the Vologda region travelling by ship and visited the Kirillo-Belozersky museum-reserve and the Museum of Dionisy’s Frescoes on Sunday. Among them there were organizers of the contest “Museum Olympus 2013” and its participants – employees of federal, city and municipal museums.
Vasily Pankratov, chairman of the Committee on Culture of St. Petersburg, commented upon the aim of the visit: “Museum Olympus” is a contest of St. Petersburg. It includes various nominations, for example: “Museum of the Year”, “Exposition of the Year”, “Museum for Children”, “Prestige of St. Petersburg”. This contest was initiated six years ago. It includes an off-site seminar every year. Participants whose projects are named the best go on a journey on a ship that has become a landmark for us. One day is always given for the cultural program. This year it is taking place in Kirillov and Ferapontovo”.
Tours of the House of the Father Superior, the Refectory and the Assumption Cathedral were conducted for our counterparts from St. Petersburg in the Kirillo-Belozersky museum-reserve. Besides, they visited the Nativity of the Virgin Cathedral and the Refectory in the Museum of Dionisy’s Frescoes.
