The exhibition titled “Do Good Deeds” about Vologda’s poet and prose writer Alexander Yashin was opened in the Kirillo-Belozersky museum-reserve. Works which are a part of another larger art exhibition held in the Vologda Regional Picture Gallery are presented in the conference hall. There are over 20 pictures created by modern artists of our region. Visitors can see portraits of Alexander Yashin, bright images of his small Motherland – the village of Bludnovo, the Bobrishny Ugor, the outskirts of Nikolsk.
Nikolay Mishusta, Honoured Artist of Russia, head of the Vologda Regional Branch of the Union of Russian Artists, who painted most of the displayed paintings, attended the opening ceremony.
According to him, the subject of Alexander Yashin holds a special place in the creative work of Vologda’s artists. Having united the efforts, the group of authors started the project about which Nikolay Mishusta told the following: “The exhibition “Do Good Deeds” was opened in the Vologda Regional Picture Gallery in February within the framework of the celebrations of the bicentenary of Alexander Yashin’s birth. It was open during two months and sparked public outcry. It was decided to develop the project and to give a chance to all inhabitants of the region to see these works and to remember the poet one more time. Yashin is a legend for the Vologda region who worked in the difficult period and opened the doors for the galaxy of writers – his fellow townsmen: Nikolay Rubtsov, Vasily Belov, Viktor Korotaev. We are grateful to Alexander Yashin for his creative work. The exhibition opened today is a part of our gratitude”.
Residents and guests of Kirillov can see the pictures of Vologda’s artists till November 1, 2013.
