The club of historical reenactment “Tsar’s Stronghold” regularly takes part in mass events of the Kirillo-Belozersky museum-reserve. In September 2013, its members first went to the festival held in another place. They were the organizers of the event that took place in the memorial estate of the Batyushkovs and A.I. Kuprin located in the Danilovskoye settlement of the Ustyuzhna district.
The captive French soldiers planted trees in the Danilovskoye settlement that belonged to the family of the famous Russian poet Konstantin Batyushkov 200 years ago. The pine alley and the linden garden have come down to us. They are the monuments of the garden art of the 19th century. The House of the Batyushkovs erected in the 18th century was rebuilt by captive Frenchmen. During the Patriotic War of 1812, the landowners sent recruits from among their serfs to the regular army. Later the state compensated losses of manpower with captive Frenchmen. Officers mainly remained in the capital and soldiers were sent to the province. They laid out the pine alley and the garden of the estate in the Danilovskoye settlement. The September festival was held on the occasion of these events.
Residents and guests of the Danilovskoye settlement and Ustyuzhna got to the atmosphere of the early 20th century during the sunny weekend. They familiarized themselves with the life of the country estate and attended the real riding to hounds.
