History of the region based on the materials of archeological excavations” is being opened on the lowest floor of the Church of the Presentation of the Virgin in the Temple with the refectory. It is the first full exhibition representing archaeology of the Belozersk district in the Vologda Region. Materials of the monastery archeology are displayed for the first time in our region. More than 4000 archeological objects dating back to different chronological periods are represented there: from the Mesolithic period (9000 B.C.) till the late Middle Ages.
At the end of the 20th – early 21st century considerable restoration work has been carried out in the Kirillo-Belozersky museum-reserve. Museumfication of the monuments is being realized at the same time. One of the most interesting architectural buildings of the Kirillo-Belozersky monastery is the Monks’ cells. In the process of its restoration architects and restorers managed to discover complicated structure of this dwelling house of the 17th-19th centuries.
Exhibitions dedicated to the folk applied art and handicrafts of the Belozersk district are placed in the spacious vaulted chambers of the monastery cook-house of the 16th century. An important place is occupied by wood-carving, ceramics, peasant embroidery, weaving, lace-making and a folk female costume of the 19th-early 20th centuries.

Marina Sergeevna Serebryakova – a person whose life is inseparably linked with the Museum of Dionisy’s Frescoes - accepted congratulations on her birthday yesterday, on September 16. She was born in Moscow, but moved to Ferapontovo in 1968. Marina Serebryakova became a museum employee in 1972 and was appointed a head of the branch three years later.

A number of very important events took place in the museum during the period of her management: the branch was named the Museum of Dionisy’s Frescoes; it was given the federal status (as a part of the Kirillo-Belozersky museum-reserve) and then an international one when the ensemble of the Ferapontov Monastery was inscribed into the UNESCO World Heritage List. The number of museum employees grew considerably, their scientific potential increased.

Marina Serebryakova received departmental awards for success in work and great experience many times, was awarded the badge of the Ministry of Culture of the RF “For achievements in culture” and the State Prize of the RF (in 1998) in the sphere of fine arts (together with the group of restorers) for effective work on the study, preservation and restoration of the Dionisy’s frescoes.

In 2011, M.S. Serebryakova resigned from the position of director of the Museum of Dionisy’s Frescoes and headed its educational sector “School of Dionisy”. She is implementing a unique educational program for pupils and students of our country.

Vsevolod Chubenko, head of the Department of Culture and Cultural Heritage Preservation in the Vologda region, congratulated Marina Serebryakova on her birthday: “Marina Sergeevna, please, accept sincere congratulations on your birthday! The life of a person consists of many thousands of days and every day has its own meaning and value. Besides, on this day, Marina Serebryakova was awarded the UNESCO diploma and commemorative medal for an important personal contribution to the cooperation of the Russian Federation with the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization in the sphere of cultural heritage preservation and on the occasion of her birthday.
