An autumn art exhibition was opened in the hall of the administration building of the Museum of Dionisy’s Frescoes. It continues the art project “Art Field”. This project, first organized near Ferapontovo in the field at the Dyakonovskaya village two years ago, aroused much interest of local residents and tourists. Professional artists who spend holidays in the neighbouring villages and Ferapontovo itself, their children and just amateurs of art who have creative works display them in the open air – in the field. They choose a place for exhibiting the works themselves: it can be a haystack, grass, a wall or a porch of the house located nearby.
The idea of such a field exhibition was suggested by Moscow’s artist Y.S. Skrynnikov. Democratic in its principle, it gives an opportunity for everybody to participate in such an event, regardless of education and age. The advantage of this presentation is author’s expositions united with the space of the field and the sky. Artists are their own masters at these mini one-man exhibitions: they display what they want. There are no best or worst places like in any exhibition space. The sun shines equally for everybody. The problem of closeness, periphery and center is not topical (try to find out where they are). Pictures of various artists are exhibited not on one wall. The painters present their works without crossing with each other. And of course, there is nothing more expressive and perfect than exhibiting paintings in the nature.
In 2013, the opening of “Art Field” fell on August 19. Savior of the Apple Feast Day is the sign of the end of summer, the feeling of one more past season, forthcoming parting. They were sad and at the same time hoped to meet next year. The Museum of Dionisy’s Frescoes has been cooperating with the artistic community of Ferapontovo for many years. Large exhibitions held in the Treasury Chamber every year were accompanied with the issue of catalogues and were popular with local residents and guests. Next year the museum suggested staging the open air exhibition in the niches of the monastery fortifications and on the slope of Borodaevskoye Lake. This idea was approved by the artists. Besides, it is planned to deliver master-classes for children and adults where everybody will be able to act as a painter. Such events always attract a lot of visitors.
The exhibition will be open till October 10.
